# Isabyte Power Tools (MCP server: `isabyte-expert`)

This project uses Isabyte Power Tools, a UI component library whose components,
parameters, events, enums and design tokens are the same in every framework it ships
for. The MCP server `isabyte-expert` is configured for this project. It serves the
documentation for the whole catalog as MCP resources (`isabyte-skill://…`) and, for
clients without resource support, through the tool `read_isabyte_skill`. It is the
source of truth for the Isabyte API; your training data is not.

## When to use it

- **Before you write or change code that uses an Isabyte component, theme or design
token**, read the resource for that topic, even if you think you know the API.
- **Never guess** a component, parameter, event or enum name. If the resource does not
document it, it does not exist: say so instead of inventing it.
- The resources describe the shared catalog. Map what they document onto this
  project's framework syntax.

## How to use it

1. List the server's resources (`resources/list`), then read the one for your task.
If your client cannot read MCP resources, call the tool `read_isabyte_skill` with
   the same name instead (`isabyte-controls` for `isabyte-skill://isabyte-controls.md`);
it returns the same text, and `list_isabyte_skills` lists every skill:

| If you are about to… | Read |
|---|---|
| use any form control, grid, dialogue, filter, upload | `isabyte-skill://isabyte-controls.md` |
| build any chart | `isabyte-skill://isabyte-charts.md` |
| display or animate images, backgrounds, carousels | `isabyte-skill://isabyte-images-animation.md` |
| use the app shell, server monitor, or terminal | `isabyte-skill://isabyte-tools.md` |
| embed the image editor or banner producer | `isabyte-skill://isabyte-image-editor.md` |
| embed the landing-page builder | `isabyte-skill://isabyte-landing-page.md` |
| use speech-to-text, transcription, or the AI chat panel | `isabyte-skill://isabyte-ai.md` |
| read render diagnostics or viewport size | `isabyte-skill://isabyte-devtools.md` |
| scaffold a whole new app | `isabyte-skill://isabyte-design-system.md`, then `isabyte-skill://isabyte-implementation-plan.md` |

2. The prompt `isabyte_expert_guidance` loads every resource at once. Use it only when
a task spans many of the areas above.
3. If the server advertises the tool `generate_theme_from_spec`, use it to create a
theme instead of hand-writing `--isa-*` tokens.

## If the server is not available

If `isabyte-expert` is not among your MCP servers, or neither the resource nor
`read_isabyte_skill` returns the documentation, stop and tell the user that the
Isabyte MCP server is not connected, so the Isabyte API cannot be checked. Point them
to https://isabyte.com/mcp/mcp-server for setup. Do not fall back to writing Isabyte
code from memory.
